Looks like we have another storm coming in this morning, the skies are cloudy, snow is falling, and this, just after what happened with Winter Storm Pax last week.

We went from this on Wednesday morning….

To this on Thursday morning….

I woke up early on Thursday, and as with any snowstorm, was eager to get outside and walk Jackson through the snow. Must be my Canadian roots, I love the snow.

We walked over to the dog run in Madison Square Park, in the shadow of the Flatiron building. It was dark and cold, but at the same time peaceful.

By 7AM on my return trip home, the streets were starting to look gray and mushy.

Our mayor Bill de Blasio shocked us once again by keeping the schools open. Which of course my kids didn’t mind. It was the first time this year that we made it out the door with half an hour to spare.

Enough time for unhurried snow angels on every block.

Just in case you were wondering, this is what it looks like when schools don’t shut down. Parents holding onto their kids for dear life so that nobody blows away or slams into a 3 foot ice dam.

We finally got down to the home stretch. The kids decided to play Slip ‘n Slide on snow-covered frozen trash…

School buses skidded on the ice as thought they’d been taken over by a bunch of off-roading thrill seekers.

But we made it to school, the kids loved every minute. Despite the cold and snow, it’s been a fun winter. I can manage with fewer snowstorms before the end of the year, but until then, we’ll tough it out….
